In little more than another week, the elections for the new Provincial Council will have bsen completed. Six districts have yet to choose their representatives, aad one — Tjongwood — will discharge that duty to-day, the candidates beiag Messrs Durbeidge and Daniel. The next, in point of time, is the most important of the whole, viz.. the town of Invercargill, the nomiaation for which takes place to-morrow, the candidates who have announced themselves being Messrs Menzie3, Ta.yl.oe, Lumsden, Cowan, and Caldeb. It is fully anticipated that other gentlemen will be proposed, b,ut we are not in a position to name them. For Oteramika, the only candidate who; has declared is Mr G. M. Bell, and it is not expected that any opposition will be offered to that gentleman's election. Indeed, it is impossible to conceive any necessity for it, as his published address breathes the most liberal sentiments. Waiau will doubtless return Mr Stetjart, its former member. For New Biver we understand that three candidates are in the field, viz,, Messrs M'Clttbe (the late member), Russell, and G-ebard. The last battle-field will be the Waikivi district, and two candidates are already announced for its representation, viz.j Messrs Kenneth M'lvob and A. To shack.
