Hobabt Tows, September 16. Tbe Assembly yesterday passed a resolution in favor of the construction of a main line of railway from Hobart Town to Launceston. To-day the bill was introduced and advanced, a stage. September 18. A fresh supply of perch ova has been sent to New Zealand. The markets are without change. Wheat is quoted at 75., and flour at £16 ; potatoes, £5. Launceston, September 18. A letter has been received from the Waterhouse diggings, stating that a pennyweight of gold was washed from a spadeful of stuff taken from a depth of seven feet on Bartley's claim. The news is considered encouraging in connection with the reports already received. September 21. The Water-house diggings continue to
engross public attention, and numerous parties are proceeding there. September 22. Messrs Westman and Innes have returned from Waterhouse, and confirm the news of the favourable prospect previously reported. Seventy men were at work in excellent spirits.
