Co.'a steamer Rangitoto arrived from Melbourne, via Hokitika, Wellington and Lyttelton, at 10.30 a.m. yesterday 19th inst. The Rangitoto left 'Tobson's Bay at 4.30 p.m. on 4th inst, cleared Port Phillip Heads 7.20, and passed Cape Schank at 9.15 p.m. ; passed Kent's Group at 9.30 a.m. od sth, experienced fine weather, with W. and S.W. winds ; arrived off Hokitika at 2.30 p.m. on 9th, transhipped mails to passengers to the steamer Waipara, sailed for Wellington, and arrived at 8.30 p.m. on the 10th ; sailed again at 4.15 p.m. on the 12th for Lyttelton, encountered strong head winds till reached port ; left Lyttelton for Port Chalmers, and arrived at 4.20 a.m. on the 15th, making the passage from Lyttelton to Otago Heads in 14 hours and 10 minutes, which is about the fastest run on record. She ieft Port Chalmers at 5 p.m. on the 18th, and as above.
