Bisnop Jenneb. — We understand that Bishop Jenner proceeds to Melbourne by the Alhambra, en route for England. Sttrgicat, Opeua.t.lo:*. — A surgical operation was performed on one of the inmates of the Hospital recently. The arm of the patient was amputated at the elbow. The operation was conducted by Dr Deck, assisted by Drs Q-rigor and M'Clure. Riverton. — -Our Riverton correspondent writes as follows, under date 14th March— " A preliminary meeting was held at Dyke's Hotel last evening for the purpose of forming a Building Association. About a dozen gentlemen were present ; several propositions werj broached, ani it was finally agreed that a public meeting should be called for next Saturday evening, to be held at the Oddfellows' Hall. Afterwards a meeting of the Directors of the Longwood Water Race and Grouud Sluicing Company took place, but owing to the lateness of the hour, nothing worthy of note transpired. Riverton is slowly but surely advancing. Another marked improvement observable is the new post office. Only those who have experienced the inconvonionce of the old building, can justly appreciate the change."
