Nalle, Jan. 27. At Yokohama, the Chamber of Commerce has held a meeting to discuss the reported intention of the Government to issue a paper currency. Sir John Lawrence is on a visit to the interior, previous to his departure for England. [special telegram from the cbylon ob--Bebveb, jan. 14.] •' We have a special telegram, depatch from Bombay at eleven minutes to nine this morning, announcing the receipt of a telegram which confirms the reported battle in Afghanistan. Subsequent to December 24, Abdool Rahman and Maho. mcd Azim Khan had been defeated by Shere Ali, all their troops joining the latter. Salutes oi 101 guns had been fired at Cabul in the honour of the | decisive victory. The capture of Azim Kuan and Abdool Rahman was also rumoured:
