The ' Otago Daily Times ' of the 20th inst., says : — There has been a little more life in trade today, but an absence of large transactions is still to be noted, and we can refer to but little of interest going forward in the import market. In breadstuffs there is no further change to refer to, and in grain no alteration, a maintained demand existing for parcels of old wheats and oats, the latter having been placed in lots at 2s 9d and 2s lOd. Liquids generally remain quiet. Trade sales of Hennessy's brandy witness 8s for bulk, and 28s to 28s 6d for case. A parcel of Renault's, both bulk and case, is also reported, but at a price not ascertained. Sugars nre quiet pending the disposal of the Sea Shell's cargo. Teas have been quitted to some extent at maintained prices. Fine boxes moving at 2s ; ordinary ditto, at Is f>\ up ; and some lines of halves of various brands at Is 2d ; for low congous, up to 2s Id for fine sorts. Further sales of kerosene have been made at 2s 3d ; of new currants, at 4d ; salt, at 755, and hams and bacon (Sinclair's), at 12^d. By auction, there is nothing to report of any moment.
