The following are the latest items from this eviiiiy : — The Laud Bill progress through the committee to the satisfaction of the Ministry, and the clauses which embody two of the essential principles of the new policy have been passed by considerable majorities. These clauses provide for the proclamation of agricultural areas, and the introduction of the credit systam at auction sales. The cargo of teas ex Jane Bell was oftered to-day, but only some 300 packages were sold at about last rates. The corn market is quieter. Farmers are very anxious to sell, but buyers are holding off. Wheat is Id lower, and the market closed quiet at 4s 2d to 4s 3d.
