ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE.

WB DO NOT *-_>BNT_FV OUBSE-V-- IK A-TV WAT WITH THE OPINIONS EXPBBS-KD ST OT7» OOBBBSBONDBNTS. ■.i ■■' ♦ i ■ - RIVERTON TELEGRAPH. (TO TH_ EDITOB OF THB 3 J T7TH___rj_ TI-t-B.) Sib, — I should like to ask what the representatives of the Riverton side of the country mean to do in the matter of the proposed telegraph between -JW-T> cargill and Riverton. I take it for granted there will be but slight Objection to so important a work ; and hope it will not be left iri. abeyance till the n_w fangled scheme of a Board of Wprkd Or whatever it is, becomes a tangible fa_t* It is quite possible those gentlemen; wittt the whole .Council may be prepared to push the work, and I am in no way dictating to or censuring them; but I would just suggest an answer to the only arguments now remaining against it, as I believe.it is feared by some that the interest upon costs, and the working expenses might exceed the returns by some thirty ipounds. That is a very serious matter to contemplate, and might very [ probsbly bring the province to ruin, but j if we are told we have hitherto received only one fortieth instead of one half or one third- as our share of the plunder, the paternal Government may perhaps make us a present of any little deficit m consideration of our long and patient endurance. I have an idea however thit the extension of the telegraph Would prove such a boon and such a liixurV td the district that the balance would be something on the other side. — I' am, &c, APABO-A.
