In the State of Jalisco, . the famous Colonel Chavez has pronounced in favor of Santa Anna, and the authorities have given him seven hundred guns. General Martinez, of Sinaloa, is again on the war path ; he has captured the town of Fuerte Tolentino. The proposition of Edward Stephenson to the Governors of the States of Mexico, for the construction of the Eio Grande, Pacific, and Mexico City Eailroad, had been favorably received. The crops of the country are a total failure. The United States Consul at Victoria, Vancouver's Island, reports the loss of the American schooner Growler on rocks at head of Vancouver's Island ; 13 lives and 35,000 dollars worth of cargo were lost. ■■
