New Yobk, July 9. The national day was celebrated as usual. St. John's Episcopal Church in Buffalo NT., was burned on the night of the 4th, by the explosion of a Bky rocket in the steeple. , The new Legislatures of Georgia, Louisiana, and South Carolina, have completed their organisation. Both Houses of the Louisiana Assembly have ratified the fourteenth amendment of the Georgia Legislature. The Senate has a radical and the House a democratic majority. Charles Francis Adams, late Minister to England, arrived in this city last night by the steamer China. In the House of Eepresentatives, on the 7th, Thad. Stevens presented additional articles of impeachment against the President, charging him with the abuse of patronage of his office ; erecting State Governments in conquered territories; restoring forfeited propery, and other crimes. Mr Stevens made a long speech in support of them, and then, at his own suggestion, they were postponed for two weeks. Mr Williams, of Pennsylvania, also pre--1 Bented additional articles. The new Tamany Hall was dedicated j on the 3rd inst., and afterwards thrown open for the reception of the Democratic | National Convention. The Convention was called to order by Augustus Belmont Esq. After the appointment of Com--5 mittees to prepare for business, the Con- " vention adjourned until the 6th inst. * The candidates spoken of are Geo. H. [ Pembleton, Gen. W. S. Hencock, Frank l Blair, Chief Justice Salmon, P. Chase, ' Hendricks, Johnson, and Maclellan. 3 Great excitement prevails about the proceedings in the case of the United States v. the Arman Brothers, builders of the Confederate ironclads. 1 The trial was commenced on July Ist. Berryer opened for the United States. Advocate General Will replied on the j Bth.
