LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
Tuesday, JtjiiY 28. The Speaker took the chair at 2 o'clock. The following papers were presented, viz. : — Correspondence between the G-o---vernor and certain members of the Legislative Council, returns of land under depasturing and other leases, (except for gold mining), and of rents, &c, paid for the year ending 31st December, 1867, in the various provinces of New Zealand ; return of lands sold or absolutely disposed of,, for the halfyear ending 31st December, 1867; 1 papers relating to certain allegations respecting the treatment of native prisoners and others in New Zealand, and reports of the Boyal Commission on prisons. The Pawnbrokers Bill, as amended by the House of Bepresentatives was passed ;, the Treason Felony Bill was read a third time and passed, as was also the Prevention of Frauds Bill. The Interpretation Bill, the Lunatics Bill, andthe Bakers' and Millers' Bill were considered in Committe. The House then adjourned.
