We take the following from the ** Wellington Independent,* 4th August*.— 'A correspondent, writing from the Lower Vfdley, says :— A chief, named Eewi, from Poverty Bay, is at present engaged in obtaining recruits to assist in expelling the Europeans from the lands confiscated on the East Coast.'
