SERVIA.
ASSASSINATION OP PBINCE MICHAEL. Prince Michael, the reigning Prince of Servia, has been assassinated. On the afternoon of June 10 the prince, while walking in the promenade of the Topschidar-park, was attacked by three persons and shot down with revolvers. A provisional government has been formed consisting of Ministers Marinovic and Deschjanine and Citizen Petrovic. The assassians ofthe prince area father and two sons. The father and one of the sons are under arrest. Prince Michael is to be succeeded in Servia by his nephew, Milan Ohrenowitz, who was in Paris at the time of the assassination, but left for Belgrade on Saturday evening, June 13. He has been proclaimed by the Minister of "War in an address to the army, and by the municipality of Belgrade. The elections to the Skuptschina are fixed for the 21st June, and the convocation for the 2nd July. It has transpired that the assassination was the result of a conspiracy in favour of the Karageorgewich dynasty. The names of the murderers who have been arrested are Badovanowich, from Schabaiz; Bogich and Athanazovitch, from Poscharevaz. gj At Schabatz the authorities had great difficulty in protecting the family of Badovanowich from the fury ofthe populace. The funeral of the late prince took place on June 15, when the greatest order prevailed. The body was interred in the family vault of the cathedral. Princess Julie, and all the representatives of foreign Powers were present. Prince Milan will be brought up by the widow .nf f\]t- litr I**^ i mU " ™' U """"""*"* JoTr**. a share in the government until the majority of the young prince. A Vienna letter in the Paris * Patrie' favors the supposition that the assassination of the prince was due to a political cause. This was shown by the assassins killing Mdme. Anka as well as the prince, for, says the writer, Mdme. .Anka was the real sovereign. The same letter gives some details of the murder. The three assassins pounced on the prince, Mdme. Anka, and her daughter, as they approached the turn of a dense thicket in the pleasure grounds adjoining the villa of Topchidere in which they were taking a walk. Their bullets struck five persons in all. When they retreated it was found that one shot had gone through the prince's neck, and another had shattered his skull. He was quite dead. Mdme. Anka still lived, and was - able to give the names of the murderers, but died soon afterwards.
