LATER INTELLIGENCE.
Wellington, Thursday— 3.36 p.m. The ' Evening Post ' of to-day contains a later telegram from Napier than the above, but nothing fresh has transpired. There has been heavy floods in the vicinity, which has caused the destruction of a large number of sheep. The Rangatira steamer arrived at Napier from Auckland. She brings late Auckland news. All the members have left Auckland for the Assembly. . : : ■ The diggings are progressing very favorably. .■:■•-• Hunt's claim at the Thames has proved exceedingly well. The claim realised eight thousand ounces in a very short time. Another claim— called the Q-olden Crown — realised eight hundred and seventy ounces. The political news^is unimportant.^
