PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled " The Diseased Cattle Act Amendment Act, 1865," section four, the Governor may, by any Order in Council, from time to time, annul, make void, or alter or vary and make anew any Orders in Council, regulations, appointments, or prohibitory or other declarations, made and published by the Governor, under the authority of "The Diseased Cattle Act, 1861," or of this Act, or by the Superintendent of any Province, under or in pursuance of any power delegated to him under any of the powers of delegation contained in the said Act. And whereas by section five of the said Amendment Act, "as to regulations, appointments, and prohibitory and other declarations made by Superintendents of Provinces, in pursuance of any power delegated under the powers of delegation contained
in the said Act,r this Act, the power of annulling, matg void, or altering or varying and iking anew any snch regulations, apjntments, or prohibitory or other declations, vested in the Governor by tl Act, may, from time to time, be deleted by the Governor in Council, by wrant under his hand, to Superintendent any Province." And where; the said Governor hath, with the adce and consent of the Executive Cuncil of New Zealand, delegated to'ohn Parkin Taylor, Esq. ; so long as I shall hold the office of Superintend of the Province of Southland, all te powers which, by the said fifth sectii of the said Amendment Act, the ftvernor in Council is authorised so tdelegate : Now tirefore, I, John Parkin Taylor, by virtuef such powers in me vested, do hereby pclaim and declare that, after the date' the publication hereof in the " New Ziland Gazette," all.that portion of the Iddle Island of JMew Zealand, lying toiie east of Mataura River, from the mom to the source thereof; also all that poion lying north of a line running due we from Eyre Peak to the Mararoa River, ad a line drawn from thence to the mcth of a creek running into the Te Am Lake, called Henry Creek ; also all thi portion lying west of the Te Anau id Manawapouri Lakes, and the left bak of the Waiau River, excepting Runs o. 172, 303, 413, in the Province of 0t{0 ; also all the Provinces m the North Island of New Zealand, the Chatlm Islands, Ruapuki, and other island in Foveaux Straits, .shall be deeml to be infected districts within the meanig of the said Acts; and I do furthf proclaim and declare the following rgulations for the destruction of diseasd cattle, and for the preventing and relating the removal or transportatiotof cattle from the said several infectd districts into the Province oi Southind. . 1. [f any person shall import, drive, or remov, or cause to be imported, driven, or reioved, or assist in driving or removin; any cattle from either of the saidifected districts into the Province of Sathland, except upon quarantine groun, and the authority of a quarantine certifiate, such person shall be liable to a penalf of fifty pounds for every head of cattleao imported, driven, or removed. 2. It shall be lawful for any inspector of ca*le or police constable to destroy, or causeto be destroyed, any cattle which shallpass into this Province from either of tte said districts, contrary to these reguations. 3. If any person shall wilfully impede or 'bstruct any inspector, or any police coistable acting under the authority of ttese regulations, every person so offendiig may be taken before two Justices of tie Peace, and shall be liable to a penalty jf fifty pounds. 4. These reflations shall take effect from and after the date of publication in the " New Zealand Gazette."
