Lord Lyons, the English Ambassador in Paris, and the Chevalier di JSligra, the Minister of Italy, have addressed letters, dated the 27th and 28th March respectively, to the Israelite alliance in Paris, in which they announce that England and
Italy have taken diplomatic steps at Bucharest on behalf of the Jewish population of the Danubian Principalties. The • Constitutional ' of March 31 believes that it can state that the pressnt Legislative Body will not be dissolved until the expiration of its term in 1869. The ' France' of April 10 says :— " The armaments of France do not threaten peace, they can disconcert none but evil designs, for they are a shield of legitimate rights, the violation of which alone could lead to a conflict. " The Prince Imperial left Paris on April 24, for Cherbourg; the emperor and empress accomponying him as far as the station. After staying a day at Cherbourg his imperial highness proceeded to Brest, escorted by an iron-clad squadron. It is I said that the emperoivin _auest_ of materials of his " Life of Ceaar," will before long pay a visit to Egypt. On April 14 a duel was fought with pistols at Munich between Baron Budberg and Baron Meyendroff. Baron' Budberg was slightly wounded. i The Council of State has at present under consideration two important measures, the object of the first being the revision of the law of 1841 regulating the employment of children in workshops and as apprentices ; while the second has reference to the relations between employes and workmen relative to Art. 1781 of the Code Napoleon, which declares that the former, in case of dispute about wages, work done, or agreements, is to be believed on his simple affirmation. The 'Pafcrie' of April 16 says that there has not been any exchange of proposals between the French and Prussian Cabinets on the subject of disarmament.
