Commercial Summary.
Times Office, Tuesday Evening; The report in our last summary to Europe via Suez might almost serve for that of to-day, bo little variation haviug taken place in the aspect of commercial matters since that date. The wholesale market has been supplied by importations from haud to mouth, of the clas3 of goods only that have been actually needed. Stocks of grocerit-s generally need sorting up, but beyond this the requirements of trade are by no means pressing. The flour market has been firm at our last quotations : the only supply arriving since our last report having been a parcel of come 200 bags of Victorian. From the fact that the Victorian yield of wheat at last harvest is fully 1,000,000 bushels under that of the previous harvest, we need not expect importations thenco to be long continued :
and New South Wales being also a puroh&ser to a large extent, wa see no reason to alter the opinion already expressed, that higher prioos for grain and flour will rule. Provincial wheat arrives at mill better than anticipated, and the yield will be larger than was apprehended. Oats, and provincial produce generally, are moved in fair quantities atjlast rates. Tn beera, both glass and bulk, the ma-Vet remains stationary, Tennent's ale being almost out of stock. No large importations of geneva have taken place since our last, and holders of the small stock on haad are not anxious to quit except at- an advance. We append our oustomary prices current correoted to date : — m
