Per Airedale, from Dunedin — Cabin : Messrs Frasor, M'Kay, Williams, Ryley, Mathesan, Woodward, Coote, Low, Topi, Mrs M'Kay, Capt. Inverariety, Mr Small, and Nathan troupe ; 5 in the steerage, and 34 for Hokitika. Per Airedale, for Hokitika — Cabin: Miss South.
The Airedale left Wellington on the night of the 26th. Owing to tempestuous weather, made long passages to intermediate ports ; arrived at Lyttelton at 9 p.m., on the 27th ; 1-ft at 6 a.m. on the 28th, and arrived at Pore Chalmers at 7 a.m. on the 29th ; left same day at 4 p.m. ; from thence to Bluff, experienced strong head winds and heavy sea, and did not make the Bluff Harbor until 3 p.m. on the 3Uth inst. Capt Hyed, of the brig Susan, reports having left Newcastle, N.S.W., on the 14th inst., with 141 head cattle, and experienced strong northerly winds till 18"th inst., and a succession of S.W. gales till 25th, and from then till making the Straits, had N.W. winds. Sighted the Solanders at 8 p.m. on the 29th, and arrived at Bluff Harbor at 9.30 a.m. on the 30th. At 2.30 a.m. this morning, the yards were illuminated with comprozants, thus indicating the severe weather in the vicinity. The Susan has been very fortunate with her cargo, not having lost any on the passage ; the cattle are consigned to Hare, Pratt and Co.
