NEWS BY THE PANAMA MAIL.
The following extracts are taken from the Panama " Star and Herald :"— WEST INDIES. Jamaica— The arrival of the steamer " Solent " puts us in possession of Kingston dates to the 3rd instant. The Liverpool steamer Carribean arrived at Kingston from Aspinwall on the 31st ult. The report that another insurrection of the negroes is imminent, is contradicted by the Kingston papers. Saikt Thomas. — By way of Jamaica we have dates from St. Thomas to the 21st ult. Captain Cotrell, of the schooner Morilla, reports the continuation of shocks of earthquake at that unfortunate place. On the 18th and 19th ult. there were two pretty sharp shocks, and on the 21st whilst the Morilla was sailing from St. Thomas, at a distance of about fifteen miles from the harbor there was a severe ! shock. All the people had returned to ! their homes, but alarm and excitement j still continued. Most part of the cargo from the Columbian had been recovered, but the divers say the vessel has parted. Provisions were still plentiful. Hatti. — We have advices from AuxCayes to the Ist inst. Haiti is reported as in a very disturbed state. Throughout the country the opinion prevailed that a revolution would shortly break out. In Aux Cayes, soldiers were being drilled daily, and it was said that the same state of things existed in Port-au-Prince. At a place called Aquin, about twelve miles from Aux Cayes, the captain of a French barque shot a soldier who attempted to arrest him. The captain was thrown into prison, the crew deserted, and there was but one boy left in the vessel.
