Late Mexican dates state that the Mexican goTernment is about to demand reparation from the government of Guatemala for the injuries sustained by the late invasion of the States of Chiapas, and the contests that are so frequently taking place owing to the contested boundary. Prince Salm, who is now on his way to France, it is supposed, has in his possession voluminous original documents in regard to Mexico during the existence of the Empire, and also in relation to the execution of the ill-fated Emperor Maximilian. It has been promulgated that the same punishment that has been meted out to the Imperialists who remained in Mevico at the close of the war, will be metedoutto those who are now absent from their homes when they return to them again. Rains and inundations have visited Vera Cruz, causing great destruction of property. On the 20th ultimo, the Mexican Congress assembled — 105 members out of 209 being present. Several of the members elect are held in prison, while others are hiding away from the authorities in fear of being arrested and confined in gaol the moment they show themselves. Generals Ortega and Patoni are still kept close prisoners, although the press and the people demand their liberation, on the ground that they are Deputies elect to Congress. Colonel Lopez, who betrayed Maximilian, has published another document in wldch he endeavors to establish his innocence. He says that he has the most sacred proofs in his possession to that effect. Part of the regiment formerly serving as the " Empress Carlotta's Own" have mutinied, killing Col. Sanchez, one of the Commissioners who sentenced Maximilian to death. Sands of brigands continue to roam all over Mexico, and to sieze all wealthy persons and holfl them in custody until they purchase their liberty by paying a large ransom. The embalmer who desecrated the reinains of Maximilian and trafficked in the relics of the dead Emperor, haß been prosecuted as a common thief. The auction sale of Maximilian's rural estates had been annulled, and the property returned to the original proprietors. At a monster banquet in the City of Mexico, General Escobedo made a speech in which he made special leference to Cuba, saying that with fifteen thousand Mexican soldiers he could take possession of that island. President Juarez has issued a decree declaring that every Mexican must perform five years' military service. It is reported that the Mexican Goverment has made a contract with the United States for three millions of dollars worth of warlike implements, two millions of which are to be taken|in rifles and muskets and one million in canons.
