By the arrival of the Eangitoto, we are placed in possession of later Australian files. The Argus of the 16th inst contains the following commercial article : — In the import markets to-day, trade generally has not been marked by much activity. Very considerable excitement continues, however, to prevail in breadstuffs ; - and flour-more particularly has been extremely unsettled, sanguine holders df marading extreme and improbable prices when asked for quotations 5 but while the town millers quote £18, we have heard of no sales of country brands over £16 10s. The transactions recorded do not exceed 150 tons, at prices ranging from £l«(fc lCs., accepted at an early hour in the morning, to £16 10s., realised at about the close of business hours. Wheat is higher .like wise, 6s 6d to 63 9d being asked. Colonial oats have found buyers at up to 3s 8d- Maize is advancing ; holders ask 3s 4d to 3s 6d. A parcel of corneaeia was quitted at 13s, pending the arrival of the mail. "Holders of prepared opium have been enabled to obtain 24s 6d froai' needy buyers, who have been obliged to purchase.
