ABBIVED. Dec 19, 4.15 p.m. — Egmont, b.s., from Picton. SAILED. Dec 20, 5 p.m. — Egmont, s.s., for Wellington.
The P.N.Z. & A.E.M. Co.'s s.s. Eangitoto, H. U. Bax, arrived here on Saturday, 21st inst., at 5.40 p.m., from Melbourne, with ELM. mails, and 1960 packages merchandise, of which 330 are for the Bluff. She left Port Philip heads on the 16th, at 6 p.m., and had fine weathfr until the 18th, when she experienced strong S.W. gales until the 20th ; then the gale increased heavily, with a tremendous sea running, to that extent that she was obliged to be hove-to for nearly 12 hours ; at daylight this morning the weather was more moderate, when she was put on her course again for the Bluff. The s s. Otago arrived at the Bluff at 4.30 a.m., from Otago. Experienced a tremendous gale of wind from the westward : was laid to off Waipapapa Point from ten p.m. on 21sfc until daylight on t v e 22nd, when she made Bluff Harbor, and came alongside ihe wharf as above; discharged 30 tcia of cargo, and proceeded to Melbourne at 8 a.m.
