Lament, ye flowers that deck the Spring, Ye laverocks wi' the dewy wing, That soar to heaven,— rest and sing Yere mornin' lay 3 Wi' wailin' mak the welkin ring — ■ ■ Willy's away. Lament, ye songsters on the boughs ' That deck auld Scotland's .hichs and howes ; Ye lammies friskin' on the knowes In gleesome play ; ! Ye bairnies shake yere touzy pows— Willy's away. Ye shepherds, lingerin' on the hills, Let tears run down yere cheeks in rills j -Ye gangrel bodies owre yere gills Sit dung wi' wae 5 WJiile grief yere very heart-strings thrills — Willy's away.
