The " Argus" of the 26tli ult., reriorts :t— We have but little to report as to the import markets to-day; the rain, which cleared the streets, seeming also to hare affected business in the -warehouses. The only transactions -which came under our notice were of a retail character. In breadstuffs, the only business of which we heard was the purchase of a farmer's parcel of very good Victorian wheat at 4s lOd. Considerable transactions in geneva are pending. Buike's stout goes freely into consumption at 10s in quantities for quarts, and at 6s 9d to 7s for pints. Yotffiger's bottled ale has changed hands at 9s and 6d. Sales were reported of Hennessy's case brandy at 275 ; pale bulk do. at 6s 2d ; bulk whiskey at 5s 9d ; and rum, of the ordinary quality, at 3s 6d. Cozzen's kerosene found a market at 2s l£d.. Keiller's confectionery has been sold at from 10d to 10£ d for assorted parcels. Cape raisins went, into consumption at sid to sfd. Hall's blasting powder was sold at s|d. The whole of the rice ex Vyf Trienden was sold privately; on terms withheld. The ohief feature of the day's business was the sale by auction of the first cargo— that of the' Stag —of the season's Mauritius sugar. The weather seemed to have affected the attendance j the prices barely sustained the rates obtained at last sales, and only 2,800 out of 5,950 bap <*«$ sold,
