QUEENSLAND.
. Brisbane, May 8. The Queensland Parliament has' opened. The Governor's speech asks the sanction of Parliament to the results of the Postal Conference, it refers to the success of the Leasing Act, and to the present unsuitable system of immigragration, which it says requires amendment by a new act. It also refers to a bill to be introduced to amend the law respecting bills of exchange, cheques, and promissory notes, and suggests that a committee of both houses should meet to consider the monetary position and currency of the colony. It also recommends a * re-adjustment of Electorates, and the compilation of a new census, and congratulates the colony on its progress. , . . . ;
