Sydney,. May 4. The races were very good. The weather was fine, and the attendance very TheLeger was won by 'irisnnoblc being first, -Blair Athol second, and ' Bylong third. There was*. an excellent start made, Fishhook and the Barb leading up and past the grand stand, when Fishhook went forward, with the Barb whipping. Blair Athol went up whipping, but Fishhook got home by a head. .,.-.. Sydney, May 6. The Barb is not likely to start for the Cup, Mr Tait alleges the horse .tor have been doctored previous to starting "for the St Leger, There is considerable excitement amongst sporting men on the subject. , ; Advices from the Jfeejee Islands report that there have been terrific hurricanes^ which have caused aa immeneo amount of damage, ■' ■. has just arrived in Sydney, brings the intelligence, of the loss of the missionary barque John Williams, at the Navigators, Group. No lives lost. ' •'• ; ■ Sydney; May 9. The Band wick races were resumed today. The attendance was very numerous. The race of the day was for the Sydney Q-old Cup which was won in splendid style by Fishhook, Tim Whiffler second.
