Owing to pressure on our space by English Summary, we are compelled to omit numerous advertisements. In order to give due eclat to the occasion there should bo a strong muster of the citizens. Mr Puettelkow is deserving of every praise for the liberal manner in -which he has contributed to the amusement of the people of Invercargill. A most attractive programme is put forward, from ■which we learn that Miss Juno makes her final bow. Tne English Church Bazaar, as was anticipated, proved a success. Upwards of sixty pounds was realised last night. His Excellency the Governor and suite visited it. Major Richardson, who stayed until its close, was enthusiastically cheered The meeting of subscribers to the Hospital is postponed until Tuesday 26th instant. We understand that yesterday several gentlemen waited upon the Provincial Secretary, requesting that Thursday (to-morrow) might be proclaimed a public holiday, and that cheap excursion trains might be run to and from the Bluff. It will be seen from our advertising columns that, in reply, the Government, anxious to accommodate the public to the utmost, agreed to reduce the fares for three days instead of one, and it remains with the public themselves whether to-morrow be made a general holiday or not. We think it should, as by going down on that day, visitors will have an opportunity, not only of inspecting the "Brisk" but of seeing the " Chile " put to sea, and the " Otago" leave with the mail.
