HORTICULTUREL & FLORTICULTUREL.

During the month the annual exhibition of the Horfciculturel and Florticulturel Exhibition took place at the Theatre Royal. It extended over a couple of days, and the exhibition was most gratifying, as evincing the care and attention bestowed on the production of the various articles, and the successful results obtained. We are unable to publish the list of prizes in this month's summary, owing to the pressure occasioned by tbe Governor's visit, - but generally we may state that the whole proceeding terminated in a highly satisfactory manner, and the number of visitors attending the exhibition far exceeded the expectation of the Committee. The interest manifested each day in the Exhibition was fully maintained, the visitors being highly delighted with the splendid accumulation of local products submitted to. their inspection. We cannot now enter on any lengthened notice of the Show, but would simply say that the promoters and mem bers of the Society, the Committee, and the Exhibitors must hare felt themselves fully rewarded for their care and labour in their various departments, on witnessing tho triumphant results of their assiduity, when all was accomplished. We have ho hesitation in affirming that, in every department, tho exhibits could successfully compete with similar productions in any province of Jfew Zealand, or with any of the neighboring colonies. It is to be hoped the success attending the efforts of the local society may induce a competition on a wider scale between the provinces.
