WB BO NOT IDENTIFY OTOSELVES Ilf ANY WAY WITH THE OPINIONS EXPBESSBD BY OVS. COEEESPONDENTS. (TO THE EDITOE OF THE SOUTHEASTD TIMES). Sir, — I am rather dissappointed that Mr "W\ C. Young, of Dunedin, should have thought it necessasy to notice Mr Pearson's remarks at the late tea-meeting of the members of the Church of England. Mr Pearson is not a churchwarden nor a member of the vestry of the Church of England, and has no authority as far as I am aware (I write as a vestryman) to interfere in Church matters. Mr Pearson's remarks at the tea-meet-ing were entirely uncalled for, and quite out of place, and would have been answered had not the meeting been fully aware that the Church had not fallen quite so low as to require the services of Mr Pearson as its champion. I have the less hesitation in writing thus, inasmnch as I have taken no active part in politics, and if I had done so, I should often have supported the same measures Mr Pearson has. I mention this, that my remarks may not be attributed to political feeling. You will much oblige by publishing this letter. — I am, &c. A Member of the Chttech of England.
