RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT, RIVERTON.

I (Before D. S. Lawlor, Esq., E.M.) TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 19. MADDEK AND ASTOTHEB T. CLAPP. The defendant was sued for the sum of £2, the amount of a promissory note given by him to plaintiff. Verdict for the plaintiff, without costs. MADDEN AND AtfOTHEB Y. MABTIN. This case was similar to the other as , to the amount sued for, the only way in which it differed being that, instead of a promissory note having been given by defendant, it was an 1.0.TJ. After a long hearing, and a good deal of hard swearing on the part of the defendant, the case was adjourned for the production of further evidence for the defence.
