The Council resumed last night. at ten minutes past seven. A misunderstanding to the hour of meeting seemed to have existed, for a number of the members did not reach the Council Chambers till nearly eight o'clock. Mi* Cuthbertson not being present to move' the resolutions standing to : his • name, .Mr Armstrong moved that their consideration be postponed till after the. orders of the day. Mr Pearfon again brought up the petition of Messrs Bovd and Sons'; the prayer of tho petition was granted. In the .absence of Qr Menzies, Mr Cowan moved the consideration of Mr . k Weston's petition, when it was resolved that it could not be: entertained. The Educational Committee's report produced, a five hours' discussion, 1 and; resulted in adivi-uon on" a series bf resolutions "brought forward by Mr Cuthbertson, which, were carried over: with report of the Select Com*_ittee. Dr Menzies' motion that a committee be appointed to recommend additions to the standing orders was agreed to. After some formal business, the House adjourned at five' minutes past one 'till half-past five this evening. — - The performances at the Theatre Royal last evening (Tuesday) was a w' 11 : merited success. The house was largely attended, and the frequent applause testified the appreciation of the . jaudience. The curtain rose to the pleasing little comedy of " Faint Heart, ncr r won Fair' Lady." The plot' is has«*d upon one of the _jn _ numerable Spanish romances, whose chief features are generally, attractive and entertaining." Miss Juno, as the "Duchess," sustained Her parfc;to admiration, and the diplomatist " Ruy Gomez" .was" very: well sustained by/Mr. Roberts.: L Moreover,' ail' the minor characters- displayed a care and cul-' tivatibn ; that- speaks ,' well. for the 'A Household Fairy", followed, in which -Miss ■■■ s . - : !\'j > ii ' '■; , : ■ [ ', i .
