On Wednesday, the 26th inst, Boxing Day, the Odd-Fellows of Riverton gare a public picnic in »id of the. -widows and orphan's fund of tha lodge. It was held in a portion of the grounds of his Honor the Superintendent on the south side of the river. The day -was glorious, and the company amused themselves with athletic sports, &c., all day long. Among the features of the entertainment were conspicuous those of " Aunt Sally," formerly figurehead to tbe Wanderer, the well-known beacon in the long beach yoftd. This necessary guest had had her beauty •nhanced by an aquiline iron nose which bo effectuality guarded her pipe that none but experts could hit it. One or two ladies only succeeded. In the course of the day the Schooner Oriti from Dunedin sailed in fine style, and finding Biverton in fete displayed all her bunting in compliment to the season. It reflects credit on the good sense and good feeling of the Lodge that Boxing Day wm selected and not Christmas day, the latter being a day of more saored and family association* The pecuniary result wu expected to be gritted tft&faotory,
