Since the notice of the Bushy Point Diggings was in type, we have been favored by the Chief Commissioner of Police with the following report, which confirms the statements of our correspondent : — Campbelltown Police Station, 6th Oct., 1866. Constable Tuohy reports that at 8 a.m on the 4th inst. he left his station for Bushy Point Diggings, to execute a writ of arrest against a man there who was supposed to be leaving the Province. The person gave the constable a cake of amalgamated gold, about 5 ozs., as a security for his appearance at the Resident Magistrate's Court at 11 a.m. on the sth inst. He appeared at Court, and the constable gave him up his gold. The constable wishes to state that there are between sixty and seventy men working on Bushy Point Diggings, all of whom are doing well. The constable was informed by several diggers that the poorest claim was paying £1 per man per day, and, that there were several claims paying about £10 a-week per man. The constable was informed by a gentleman who was after arriving from the Pahi Diggings that there were far better prospects at Bushy Point than on the Pahi Diggings. The constable was informed by a reliable party that when they commenced work at Busby Point their party and two others took out 400 ozs. of gold in five weeks. He told the constable that owing to some dispute about a piece of unworked ground he had, that he was compelled to sell a share in it for £20, although he was oifered £25 for the same share ; and also said that his party prospected the beach for about 18 miles, and found gold all the way. He said the poorest ground in the eighteen miles of beach would pay from £3 to £6 per man per week. Several of the diggers told the constable that there would be plenty of disputes to be settled very soon. There are about three and a half miles of the
beach working at present. Prices of stores at Bushy Point is about 5 per cent, above the retail prices at Campbelltown. The 41b loaf is Is 3d ; beef, lOd per lb - tea, 3. Id per lb. The principal portion of the diggers are very comfortably camped in the bush at Bushy Point. 6ne Bluff firm has a large store at Bushy Point, and auother is going up.
