POSTAL DEFICIENCIES.
(to the editob of the southland times.) Sib, — Can you give any information as to the cause of the detention of the Hokitika mail at the Bluff. The Auckland, with Hokitika mail arrived a the Bluff on Saturday morning, at a quarter past eight o'clock, and we did not get our letters till this morning, (Monday), therehy causing much inconvenience to the public. Many families in this town are depending on their remittances from Hokitika for their support, and the detention of their letters is of the greatest consequence to them. Are Cobb and Co., who are always so regular in their delivery of mails, to blame, or does the blame rest with the Post-office authorities. I consider that we have a right to receive some explanation on a matter that concerns us all so much. — I am, Tour &c, A. B. C. Invercargill, 18th June, 1866.
