THE LITERARY INSTITUTION.
(to the editok oe the southland times.) Sic, — Some two months since, I attended a meeting of gentlemen desirous of forming a Literary Institute, when resolutions in favor of the project were passed, and a committee appointed to draw up a constitution and make certain inquiries as to the chance of obtaining suitable rooms and ascertain the probability of support from the public. It was intimated that a report of the committee would be presented at an early date, but. up to the present time no notice has appeared as to the "intentions of this committee. Feeling a strong interest in the project, I would suggest that if these gentlemen have abandoned the task it is due to those who elected them that a meeting should be called and their reasons for so doing Btated. Yours, &c, ; . Homo. IriYercargill, ,14th 3\me.
