THE BEAUTIFUL MOON.
Br Eiza WrtisoN. Beautiful moon high up in the heavens, What beauty, and strength, and power to thee given ; Thou sliinest with lustre a queenly bride, O'er the verdant earth and the pillowy tide. Beauteous is eve when the sun's ray is shed, And the white clouds are tipped with golden and red; But still how more beauteous the moon's soft light, ' . Oh ! glorious moon thou queen of the night. Dazzling grand is the sun's bright ray, Sole Monarch he reigns in power o'er the day ; But when night stealeth on with its cahn and repose, In glory he sinks as in splendor he rose. And then, oh how lovely the starspangled sky, With the moon, bright and calm, enthroned upon high, Befulgent in beauty and radiant with light, Is the glorious moon — Bright Queen of the night.
