A petition is about to be presented to his Honor the Superintendent, to take steps to have the North Road rendered passable. It points out the serious injury which is likely to result to the trade of Invercargill, unless some steps are at once taken" to render the roadrsucb. as carriers may pass over, being the only road to\the Lake district. The petition ig already signed by most of the leading merchants, and, rfo' doubt, will be supported by all classes ; as to the necessity for something being done to the road, no one can question.
