Last letter, dated 7th May, 1865 — eleven miles firom Ararat, was received in Adelaide, 13th May. Johnes left Adelaide dressed in light-colored coat and waistcoat and dark trousers, had a gold t watch (number and maker unknown), and a long gold chain, also a smooth worn gold ring, marked "C. M. The horses branded with the following numbers have been sold, viz., 4, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20, and 28. Numbers 9, 10, and 26 have been killed. The following described horse, belonging to the Survey Department of this Province, strayed away about two years ago, and is supposed to be running in or about the New River Hundreds, viz., black horse, 15£ hands high, branded TB on the near shoulder, with a white star on forehead.
