A Warrant has been issued by the St. George's Bench for the apprehension of Henry Lewis, charged with having committed wilful and corrupt perjury at Curriwillinghi, on the llth of November last. He is an. Englishman, aged about 44 ; 5 feet 7 inches "high ; stout build ; thin light hair ; large scar across the forehead ; dark eyes ; bridge of nose broken ; lost all front upper teeth; sometimes wears a light moustache ; tattooed on both arms. It is probable he may make for New Zealand. CANTERBURY. Apbil 2nd, 1866. £25 REWARD. Whebeas the Mail-carrier, conveying mails between Ross and Hokitika, was robbed of his mail on the 20th instant, about two miles from Ross. The offenders were masked, and carried revolvers. Description. — One, an Irishman, about 23 years of age, fair complexion, no beard, side of face freckled ; wore a brown jumper and white wideawake hat ; about five feet 6 inches high. The other, "an Englishman, about same height ; wore blue jumper outside of trousers. The above reward will be paid to any person or persons giving such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of each of the offenders. F. E. WRIGHT, Chief Postmaster. A.K. 2-8, payable at Bank of New South Wales, Melbourne, to Sarah Jane Clark j one draft for £15, issued at Bank of New Zealand, Ross, dated March 19th, 1866, No. 5-29, payable at Bank of New Zealand, Wetherstones, Otago, to Wm. INQUIRIES having been made respecting a person named Joseph Chavanne, a native of Franco, who formerly resided in Melbourne, and in September, 1862, left that place for New Zealand, since when his friends have heard nothing of him, it is requested that any one who may be able to give any information respecting the person in question will conimunicate with this office.
