OTAGO.

Times Office, 26th April Quiet still prevails in most branches of business, and nothing of any great importance has transpired. The flour market remains as before, with very little doing except in small parcels for current requirements. Sugars' are also stationary, in prospect of the sale by auction of the !St Anne's cargo. Some disposition to do business is manifested in malt liquors and in teas ; sales of both of which articles are moving at fully maintained prices. The carrying difficulty still continues, and is felt as a seriou3 hindrance to the country trade, which ordinarily at this season is heavier than at any other part of the year. No auction sales of any interest have taken place during the past few days. We take the following from "Westgarth's Circular," of 26th February : — " The Otago Government are issuing a small loan of £50,000, due here (london) Ist October, 1875, and bearing interest 8 per cent., payable here (London) Ist April and Ist October. This is a loan that was authorised ia 1862, but which has hitherto I remained in obeyance. £15,000 of the bonds arrived by last mail, and hare all found ready sale at par, ex accrued interest, deliverable Ist ApriL They may be now quoted rather higher. They are all in £50 bonds, with interest coupons attached." The bonds referred to are, we believe, those which the contractor for the erection of the Provincial Government Buildings elected to take in payment for his work, he receiving them at the rate of £96 per £100.
