RIVERTON.
(P_o_: OTJB OWJf CORRESPONDENT.) 13th April, 1866. The extreme severity of the weathe] during the last week has caused an ap parent stagnation to business here. Yoi will most probably again be favored wit! an official report of the Paihi diggings "from Mr Pearson and Mr Baker whc have both returned after visiting tht Paihi, Longwood, <£&. I have heard oJ several parcels of gold being brought in but the exact quantity up to this time has not transpired. They are chiefly from the beach claims, and a little heavier thar that previously sold. The report that one hundred diggers are on their way hither, causes some little excitement, many oj those undoubtedly on the Paihi, and doing moderately well will, previous to this, have written to their mates. Such infor. will be reliable .to them and influence them in their decision as to coming down south." During this weather no boats are able to proceed to the diggings. '
