Meteorological Obsebvatioits Dttbiko tub ' MOSTH OF NOVEM J3EK, IX SEVEN YeABS. November, 1864. — The drought continued to be very severe, and it was not until the 29th that any appreciable quantity of rain fell. On that occasion, above an inch was registered. The temperature of the month was unpreeedentedly low for the '.time of year, and the night (as in October, remarkably cold. Heavy gales were experienced from the N.W. on the night of the 12th, E.W. on the" 13th, and N. on the 24th. The rain on the 29th came from the S.E. - The mean barometrical pressure was 29*641 inches, maximum, -29.97 inches on the 22nd, the minimum, 29-18 inches on the 4th. The total range of the barometer was .only *79 of an inch in six weeks. The mean temperaturo of the air was 54-1 deg., which is not only Ak degrees below the average of seven years, but is 2 degrees colder than any other November on record. The highest day temperature was 73-8 deg. ; the lowest night temperature 352 degrees, the range of temperature during the month was therefore 38*2 degrees. The mean degree of humidity was "66, saturaation being represented by TOO, which was not approached nearer than -85 (on the 12th) ; the least amount of moisture was '44 on the Bth. The mean temperature of evaporation was 48"5 deg., and of the dew point, 430 deg.
