A fair average amount of business has been doing during themouth, and trade, although not of so extensive a character as formerly, lias nevertheless been of a healthier kind, being free from speculation, aud chicQy foL- cash. The accounts received from the Nokomai diggings spoalc well of the permanent and paying nature of the aui'ifei-ous deposits in that locality, and the steady trade that has been doing in order to supply tho wants of the numerous and increasing population there, has had the effect of considerably relieving the stocks on hand. In wines and spirits we have but little change to report since our last "summary. Stocks of brandy of really good brands are not particularly heavy, and the article is in ' fair demand. Of G-eneva there is a fair supply at our quotations. The market is overstocked with whisky, which can be bought under cost. "Very little demand exists for rum, of which there are tolerable supplies. There is a scai'city of bulk beer. Of all ales of the new brew the stocks are light j but full stocks of the old tow avo still on hand. Bulk porter is very dull of sale. . A fair demand, however, exists' both for bottled ale and bottled porter, of which there are fair supplies. A steady trade is doing in breadstuff's, but prices have fallen since our last, best "Adelaide flour, of which there is but little in the market, being now quoted at £28 10s. The flour princi-' pally used ia Chilian and Californian, which ranges from £26 to £27. Large quantities of wool are arriving daily from the interior, but very little of this season's clip has as yet been sold, buyers acting with extreme caution. Wool in the grease may be quoted at from 9d. to lOd.j washed, at ; from Is. 4d. to Is. M. ! We publish below a list of the prices ruling in in the market.
