TO THE EDITOR OF THE SOUTHLAND TIMES.
Sift,— ln the Pfovinoial Government Gazette 1 of 28th November, unde* tho head of Report, of Immigration officer, I find that in his opinion, > the public of Southland, and especially, the land-. > owners, are deeply indebted to the Emigration agent, (Mr. Morrison) for his judioious selection of a valuable class of Immigrants. . ; . Might I enquire if the London Agent selected tile Girvan Weavers, ancl if he (Mr. M'Atthur) considers them a valuable class of laborers to the landowner. ; ; I must confess that, from the specimens of that , class of Immigrants I have seen at work, on the approaches to ; the Railvvay Station,; I had formed a very different opinion of themvaluoas agri« cultural laborers. .: I anveto., .: ■ , IiAJTDGWNER.
