Ealda, s.s. ; Mary Yon Avery, ichooner. •■ - ■ » The City of Hobart, s.s., was appointed to leave Melbourne on the Bth inst., and is therefore now due. The s.s. Gothenburg left Port Chalmers atJ3 p.m. on the 12th inst., experiencing strong N.\V. ■winds to Waipapa Point, when N.E. winds were encountered to the Bluff, which was made at 9 a.m. on the 13th inst., (yesterday.) The Omeo, s.s., left Hobson's Bay on the sth inst. at 5 p.m. She experienced fine westerly -ireather on the passage, and arrived at the Bluff at 11 p.m. on the 11th ; hove-to till daylight, and came up to the wharf at 7 a.m. on the 12th inst. The Omeo has a large cargo for Dunedin and Canterbury, also eighty horses for the former port. Captain Black, of the schooner Bosearne, reports that on the 24th inst., while lying at Table Cape receiving cargo, three of his men were coming off from the shore with a boat-load of oats, and when about midway to the vessel a sudden squall struck the boat, causing it to fill and go down by the »tern. A boat wa3 immediately despatched from the Boscarne to their assistance, •which sneceeded in picking up two of the men, but a man named "William Patterson was drowned. — Argus, 31st Oct. The s.s. City of Hobart left Dunedin at 7 p.m. on the 27th ult., calling at Bluff Harbor on the following day, at 8 a.m. On the same night, at nine o'clock, the ship was struck by a heavy squall from northward, which to a hurricane, and worked round within twelve hours from N.E. to S.S.E., during which she split mainBail and foresail, skipping- JbeaTy seas and damaging Che boats; then had. fine southerly -weather throughout the passage. She passed through Port Philip Heads at seven a.m. yesterday. Captain Darby reports having sighted the b.b. Albion at seven a,m. on the 28th, outside Bluff Earborj and on the 31afe, afc one p.m., saw the : emoko of a steamer, supposed, to be the Gothenburg, 240 miles S.E. of Swan Island. — Argus, 3rd Nov. The steamship Hero, with a detachment of invalid and wounded soldiers from New Zealand, anchored in Hobaon's Bay early yesterday morn* ing.
