Blowing a gale from the N.W. 10 a.m. — Arrived, the Alarm. 11 a.m.— Wind in the Straits, W.S.W, A strong gale visited the. harbcr on Saturday, •nd continued with little abatement during the ■whole day. No casualty has as yet been reported to us.. . ■" ' ■ : . ; \"" '";''' '■' '•'■' •'• The s.s; William Miskin was announced in the Dunedin papers to sail for this port on Saturday afternoon. She may therefore be expected hourly. Two advertisements of the sailing of the s.s. Titanxa, appear in the Dunedin papers of the 29th. The one was to the effect that she would atart for lavercargill twenty-four hours after arrival; and the. other that she would leave Dunedin on Ist November for Oamaru, Lyttelton, &c. The Elizabeth- Curie, 76 tons, cleared out at Dunedin 'oh the' 28th for Invercargill, with 'the following cargo :— 927 bags oatsj 56 cases porter, 130 bags potatoes, 1 cask, 127 bags oata, Order. The OtagoDaily Times of the 24th inst: says :— The William Miskin, s.s., Captain Hepburn, is announced to saiifor Oatnaru to-morrow afternoon. She has been for some time alongside the Pelichet Bay Jetty, where Captain Godfrey, her owner, has had her overhauled,- and renovated in the most thorough manner possible. She was stripped ao completely, that from the deck downwards the iron plates could be scraped, and' coated with red lead ; the boilers and engines have been examined and repaired ; the cabin has. been touched up, and the fore-cabin has been re-modelled, and. much improved. Above deck everything, is as smart as paint and tar can mate it, and the TVffsVin now loots -well enough to satisfy the most fastidious, and fife for any wort The cost of the overhaul, we hear, has exceeded £2000.
