The shortest route ia t& Invercorgill, which is at least one day nearer^ Victoria than , Dunedin. The -steamers Gothenburg, Aldinga, and AlTtambra call regularly at the JBlttJT, which i» distant from town 20 miUa. From Iweweargiil the North Boad is followed, legiwuwg at Deestreet. Aloutfourand a \half miUtfro* town the road turns to the left, and from thence te the foot of the Lake the main line of road should he kept. By this route the distance ia only 92 miles from Imereargill, the road perfectly level, and there are accommodate* ho*—, all the way.
