GENTLEMEN, —In accordance with your request contained in the requisition this day handed to me, I have great pleasure in allowing myself to be placed in nomination, to represent you in the Provincial Council of Southland. It will bo unnecessary, at present, to enter into an explanation of my political views. This, I will reserve for some future occasion ; and whilst thanking you for the honor you have conferred upon me, I have only to add that, if elected, I will esert nryaelf to the utmost to promote your interests.
