The planting of early potatoeshas commenced. Hay. — The market ia well supplied with hay of the best quality, chiefly from Green Island and the Taieri, which sells at £7 to £8 per ton. Maize, — The market is still quite- bare. Price "£2O to £25, according to quality. Potatoes aro now up to £9, and good samples are scarce. Turnips — £4 to £7 per ton. The Times of 3rd inst reports as follows of previous day's markets : — Business to-day has been very quiet, and trans- . actions limited, ' "- * Fioxjß. — Sales continue to > be' made in small lots ; to-day, a small parcel of Adelaide and Victorian, sold at £24; terms. Tea. — A fair demand exists for medium quality ; a small lot of common congous, sold to-day, at Is. 3id., in bomd. Spirits. — Ari inclination to speculate in spirits has shown itself to-day, especially whisky in bottlo and bulk.
