ROUTE FROM VICTORIA TO THE LAKE GOLDFIELDS.
The shortest route is via, Livercargill, which is at least one day nearer Victoria than Dunedin. The steamers Gothenburg, AlcUnga, and Alhamlra call regularly at the Bluff, which is distant from town, 'ifoiniles. ■ Fr"om-Itwercaraill the North jftoad is followed, beginning at Deestreet. Aboui four amd- a half -miles from town ... the road turns to the left, and fro/a thenix to the foot of the Lake the main line of road aliould be kept. JBy this route the distance is only 92 miles from Invercargitt, the road perfectly level, and tliere are accommodation house, all the vray.
